SEN Teaching Assistant: Start As Soon As Possible

Location: Brent

Full Time – SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £90 – £110 a day depending on experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant?

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to working in mainstream or SEN schools within the Brent area. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially. You will work closely with teachers and other staff members to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where all students can reach their full potential.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be required to:

Support students with special education needs, you will need to tailor your support to meet their individual needs.
Provide one-to-one support in lessons helping pupils to engage in lessons and complete tasks.
Help manage challenging behaviours, de-escalate situations when necessary. Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being by using strategies outlined in individual care plans.
Collaborate with Teachers in lesson planning and help deliver activities that meets the needs of the pupils.
Regularly track and record pupils progress with giving feedback to teachers and carers.
You may be required to assist with personal care.

The ideal candidate for a SEN Teaching Assistant will have:

Experience working with children or young people within nursery, KS1 or KS2 with special educational needs is essential. Experience in an educational setting is highly desirable but not essential.
A genuine passion for helping students with SEN achieve their best. You should be patient, empathetic, and committed to making a difference in students’ lives.
You should be able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and other professionals. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
You will need to be flexible and adaptable to changing needs within the classroom. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN-related qualification) would be beneficial, though not essential. A passion for further development and training in SEN is encouraged.
An Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) or be willing to apply for a new one.
