Relief Social Worker (Children & Families), Western Isles (5500)
£23.45 per hour, inclusive of £1.42 Distant Islands Allowance per hour
You will be required to work within a Practice Team (Children & Families) as a Social Worker undertaking an integrated range of social work services in relation to child welfare promotion and support for children and their families: arranging and supporting care placements for children who require to live away from home, preventative work and joint work with other agencies as required, working to the direction of the Team Leader. You will work and develop data to assist with understanding trends and target service delivery alongside the Team Leader and deliver these services in accordance with current legislation and Comhairle procedures and standards.
You will also be required to work, where necessary, in supporting other statutory Social Work services within the Local Authority.
A Diploma in Social Work or other approved recognised Social Work qualification is essential. This position requires registration with the SSSC.
You must have experience of undertaking assessment, child-centred planning and case reviewing, and of direct intervention work with children and families, along with relevant experience of inter-agency and multi-disciplinary work. You will have knowledge of principles of good practice in child-centred assessment, case management and planning processes and up to date knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance in children and families work.
A full, unrestricted driving licence is essential.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
This post is on an as and when basis to cover absences of permanent staff. Hourly rate for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.
