Job Opportunity: Trade Counter Manager

Location: CramlingtonContract Type: Full-time, PermanentWorking Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (42.5 hours per week)
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Starting Salary: £27,500 per annumReporting to: Area Sales Manager

What We’re Looking For:

We are searching for a motivated and results-driven Trade Counter Manager to lead and grow our Cramlington branch. The ideal candidate will have strong management experience, preferably within the building trade, and the ability to create a positive, sales-focused environment. The role requires:

  • Leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including inventory and sales management systems.
  • A proven track record in a management or supervisory role, preferably within the building trade or construction.
  • A valid full driving license.
  • Familiarity with plastic building materials, UPVC products, and windows.
  • Previous experience working in or managing a trade counter, with an understanding of stock management and customer service.
  • An energetic and enthusiastic approach to drive sales and grow branch profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Trade Counter Manager, you will be accountable for the smooth running and financial success of the branch. Your core duties will include:

  • Managing all branch operations to ensure both financial and non-financial targets are met.
  • Implementing company strategies for business growth and development in the local market.
  • Coaching and supporting staff to enhance their performance and ensure excellent customer service.
  • Leading sales efforts to attract new customers and retain existing ones, driving profitability.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with trade and retail customers.
  • Promoting the company’s brand locally to grow market awareness.
  • Ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and managing inventory to meet customer demand.
  • Preparing financial reports on sales performance, gross profits, and operational costs.

Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates strong leadership, sales expertise, and technical knowledge. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience managing a builders’ merchant or similar business.
  • Knowledge of building materials and associated products, particularly plastic building products and windows.
  • Experience implementing sales strategies to grow revenue and improve profitability.
  • The ability to work with a wide range of customers, including trade professionals, retail customers, and contractors.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with both customers and suppliers.
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and developing team members.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar systems (preferred, but training can be provided).
