Support Worker – Drivers

  • Salary:£12.00 per hourplus Benefits
  • Hours:up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis

We are on the lookout for Support Workers who are calm, patient, and resilient. You will need tohave a consistent approach to assisting the people we support to engage in the interests they love.
Furthermore, asSupport Workeryou will be responsible for:

  • Daily activitiessuch as personal care;laundry; meal preparation; medication and administration
  • Getting to know the people you will support and help them to live the life they want to live
  • Taking personal responsibility for the quality of care and assistance delivered to the people you will support
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the people you will support
  • Helping the people you will assist plan towards and achieve both short and long term aims
  • Planning and be in favour of activities, such as holidays, learning and social engagements always being creative and exploring new opportunities
  • Assisting the people, you will assist to manage their personal affairs making, preparing for, and attending any appointments
  • Ensuring the people, you will assist and their families, are treated with respect, dignity, and equality
  • To work in accordance with SeeAbilitys values

Whilst on a bank basis, we are looking for someone who can devote up to 37.5 hours per week and are willing to work on a shift rota basis, covering mornings, evenings and weekends.
Who will you be supporting?
At Devon Support Service we support 8 adults witha range of disabilities includingcerebral palsy, autism, learning disabilities and brain injury.The range of disabilities we support here goes from just supporting to do daily chores with a lot of independence, to full support in every aspect of their day.

People at Honiton location are a very active group who spend a lot of time getting outto shops, pubs, clubs, cinema, bowling, gym and swimming.We love engaging with the local community and participating in different interest meetings starting from phonographic society meetings to supporting at a radio station where a person we support has a show.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct support when displaying behaviours to enable them to participate in a wide range of activities
  • Ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety
  • To promote independence and develop skills whilst assisting with all tasks necessary to ensure positive life experiences
  • To work positively with other agencies, parents, carers, and other services to ensure person-centred care for people we support
  • Develop and contribute to the maintenance of records and support plans and function as a Key worker when required
  • To support our people to maintain a clean-living environment appropriate to meet their individual needs
  • To participate in regular and ongoing training relevant to everyone’s needs
