Credit Controller

Brighton / Porstlade (with parking)

£25,000-28,000 – 35 hrs per week

I’m presently recruiting for a leading organisation based on the outskirts of Brighton with staff parking available. This company is presently going from strength to strength and has doubled revenue turnover in recent years. They have a notably welcoming and collaborative office environment and highly supportive team ethos.

This will be a busy role with plenty to keep you occupied. Full training / onboarding will be given, alongside opportunities for development within the finance team. You may also benefit from AAT study support post probation.

The position would suit either an early-stage Accounts Assistant (or similar) who deals with debtors as a part of their role, or a specialist Credit Controller looking to build on their existing experience.The salary between £25-28k will be adjusted accordingly to suit experience level.

The key duties within this role will entail:

  • Implement company credit control processes and procedures at the appropriate times for chasing payment for overdue/over-limit accounts
  • Put accounts on ‘Stop’ and taking escalated collection action if necessary
  • Liaising with sales force as necessary and advising them of overdue or over credit limit customers and arranging chasing either through them directly, personally or other team members
  • Resolution of disputes and queries through liaison with branch managers, sales force or directly with customers
  • Negotiation and monitoring of repayment plans with problem accounts
  • Process new customer account applications promptly and efficiently in accordance with company procedures
  • Process credit limit increase applications from branches for approval by the Credit Control Manager and/or Director in accordance with authority limits
  • Ensure that updates received from our credit reference agency are acted upon speedily and appropriately so that our ‘self-insurance’ arrangements are up to date and accurate
  • Ensure that all relevant filing is up to date and in the correct location
  • Allocate customer payments to their respective accounts and assisting with any queries relating to payments
  • Act as point of contact for the Credit Control department in absence of Credit Control Manager
  • Any other reasonable duties considered appropriate by the Credit Control Manager, their deputy or other company manager/director to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department.
