Description

A day and residential special needs school, specialising in supporting learners with Vision and Multi-Sensory Impairment, is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to play a key role in nurturing the education of SEN learners.
About the Role:

You will support learners (ages 2 years to 19 years old) with various sensory impairments, either 1:1 or in small groups, ensuring individual needs are met.
*
Collaborate with the class teacher and other relevant professionals to adapt learning materials and create a safe, stimulating environment adaptable to each need.
*
Reinforce Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to support all children and young people. Recognise all behaviour as ways of communication, whilst understanding behaviours that may challenge and supporting every pupil to excel.
*
Support learners in developing their communication, social, emotional and educational skills through tailored interventions.
*
Contribute to monitoring and assessing the progress of learners with the wider teaching staff and support in any internal sessions/workshops.
A suitable candidate will:
*
Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly Sensory Impairments.
*
Ability to create a customisable and engaging learning environment.
*
Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
*
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of individuals.
*
Be English and Maths proficient.
*
Understand the varying needs of SEN and potential challenging behaviours, whilst adhering to the settings policies.
*
Be available Monday – Friday, Full Time between the hours of 8:30am – 4pm.

Successful applicants will be subject to references and an up-to-date DBS, or be willing to apply for a Starfyn Education DBS.
