Casual Care Call Operator

Dumfries

£12.96 per hour

Care Call is the Council’s monitoring centre for the telecare service, which offers protection and assisted independent living 24 hours a day to all its clients. In addition, the centre provides the Council’s out of hours service, and lone worker monitoring services.

You will work with your colleagues to ensure the customer is always the main priority – understanding the issues they face and working to find the answers they need. You will need to demonstrate a positive attitude, a calm approach and real drive and determination to offer the very best in quality service.

Effective communication skills are crucial in this role including good listening and questioning abilities. The work of the team is underpinned by electronic record-keeping requiring accuracy and attention to detail when updating and creating personal data, recording technical faults and passing information to partners.

Shifts across the 24-hour service include day shifts, back shifts & night shifts. However, this post is predominately nightshifts covering sickness, holidays and training for permanent members of staff.

Finally, a standard grade or equivalent in English with previous experience in a customer focused enquiry service is essential.

Requirements

The main job responsibilities will be to act as the first contact for the recipients of the Care Call service, their emergency responders, carers, friends and family members, as well more general enquiries as part of the council’s out-of-hours service. These responsibilities require a range of administrative tasks to be completed in support of these services.

The Council will provide suitable systems, processes, and training to support you in this role. This post is an office-based post and due to the systems used there is no scope for hybrid working.
