Starfyn Education are working alongside a Special Educational Needs Secondary School that caters for pupils aged between 11 – 18 years. The school is for pupils with Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs, alongside autistic spectrum conditions or characteristics, including ADHD.
We are looking for candidates who are resilient, enthusiastic and highly motivated to join the dynamic team in Horley. You would be expected to work closely with the class teachers and other Teaching Assistants to create a happy and comfortable environment.
The ideal candidate will:

The desirable candidate will have previous experience within a classroom environment. However, we will also consider other experiences such as:

Special need experience – Through friends, family and other professional environment. Particularly SEMH and Challenging Behaviours.
Amazing communication skills and compassion.
Genuine enthusiasm of working with children and helping them grow.
Care work or childcare experience.
A practical approach to the needs of the students with ASD and SEMH.Your main duties will include:

Support the class teacher within their responsibilities for the education and development of the children.
Plan own set tasks within the day.
Offer support for the students before, during and after their lessons.
Working on a 1:1 and/or group setting to support learning.
Assisting students with their understanding and participation in tasks.
Helping with the personal care needs of pupils: this may include feeding, changing and manual handling.The need for SEN classroom support has never been in such demand.
