YourTeaching Ltd are seeking a motivated and reliable Cover Supervisor to join our dynamic team at a well-established secondary school in Gillingham, Kent. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for education and a desire to support students in their learning, while ensuring continuity of teaching during teacher absences.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring that students remain on task and are actively engaged in their work. You will play an important role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment, supporting students with their studies, and upholding the high standards of behaviour and conduct within the school.

Key Responsibilities:

* Supervise students during lessons and ensure they are engaged in the work set by the absent teacher.

* Manage classroom behaviour and ensure that students adhere to school rules and expectations.

* Provide support to students who may need help understanding the work or staying on task.

* Ensure a positive learning environment by promoting respect, inclusion, and good behaviour.

* Liaise with teaching staff, pastoral staff, and other professionals to ensure effective support for students.

* Help monitor students’ progress during lessons and provide constructive feedback where appropriate.

* Assist with administrative tasks related to lesson cover (e.g., taking registers).

* Support students in their academic and personal development, maintaining a focus on achievement and well-being.

* Step in for teaching staff in emergency situations, as needed.

About You:

* Previous experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting, is desirable but not essential.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.

* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a classroom effectively.

* Confident and assertive in managing behaviour and maintaining discipline.

* A positive, flexible approach and a willingness to engage with a range of tasks.

* The ability to adapt to different subjects and year groups with ease.

* A genuine interest in supporting students’ learning and development.

Desirable Qualifications:

* A qualification in education, teaching, or childcare (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or similar) is advantageous but not essential.

* Experience in working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is a plus.
