Job Title: Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough
Salary Range: £83.34 – £96 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

We are looking for a Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistant to join our supportive educational team. In this role, you will assist in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment by using positive behaviour management strategies. You will work directly with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours, applying de-escalation techniques and supporting their social and academic development. A valid Team Teach certification and experience in behaviour support within an educational setting are essential.

Responsibilities of the Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistant:

Support students with challenging behaviours by applying Team Teach de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
Work closely with teachers to implement individualised support plans and strategies that address the specific needs of students.
Assist in creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and respect for others.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them engage in classroom activities and achieve academic goals.
Encourage and model positive social behaviours, communication skills, and emotional regulation.
Monitor and record students’ progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other relevant staff.
Work collaboratively with the wider school team, including special education staff, pastoral care teams, and external agencies.
Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with additional needs.
Always ensure the safety and well-being of students, following school policies and safeguarding procedures.
Requirements of the Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistant:

Valid Team Teach certification (must be current and up-to-date).
Experience in supporting students with behavioural needs, particularly within an educational setting.
Knowledge of positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff, demonstrating empathy and patience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students, teachers, and parents.
A proactive and flexible approach to working with students who may face challenges in their learning or behaviour.
A relevant qualification in education, child development, or behaviour support (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in childcare, Special Educational Needs qualification, or equivalent) is desirable.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
