Braintree District Council are looking for a passionate individual to join their growing team as a Data Apprentice.

Working in the Research and Development Team, you will deal with a variety of data from housing, communities, leisure, venues, health and wellbeing. Youll have the ability to take ideas from topics you have learnt/read to help you deepen your understanding and develop more strategic data projects.

The role will support your learning by providing opportunities for you to use tools and techniques for data visualisation and reporting, including Excel and PowerBi. This will support the team to improve efficiency and encourage strategic decision-making across the service by using data to create innovative solutions. Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be working alongside your mentor that will ensure you are on track and ensure you get the most out of the opportunity.

In this role, youll work towards your Level 3 Business & Data Insights Level 3 Qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

Beyond the fundamental apprenticeship modules, you’ll delve into two Be-Spoke modules and one advanced Expert module. This personalised approach will hone your abilities and deepen your expertise, positioning you as a true leader in your field. The Be-Spoke and Expert modules you will complete are:

  • Expert Module: Power BI – This course is designed for individuals who seek to gain expertise in analysing and visualising data, and providing actionable insights using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Bespoke: Project Management – Project management essentials: planning, team dynamics, lifecycle stages, goal setting, and risk management.
  • Bespoke: Performance Management – Explore performance management through goal setting, data-driven metrics, feedback, appraisals, and continuous improvement.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Translate data sets and performance into a range of clear visual summaries such as infographics.
  • Illustrate the data using Data Studio and/or Power BI and creating dashboards In line with the service briefings
  • Assist with updating Research and Development SharePoint
  • Carrying out analysis of a variety of data and reporting on the results in a timely manner
  • Ensuring the integrity data that you have and by being able to effectively validate, cleanse and resolve data quality issues to provide accurate business intelligence
  • Present data in a variety of formats to reach your targeted audience, provide results and showcase insights which will help to make evidence-based decisions
  • Interact and be in regular direct contact with the clients you are working with
  • You will need to be familiar with topics such as best practices, privacy/GDPR, collect, store, use and destroy data ethically, following business policies, processes, and legalisation
  • You will be a key component of achieving better Internal reporting within the business too, supporting on projects looking to revolutionise how we gather Insights.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £12,348 to £22,074 depending on Age
  • Monday Friday 9 am 5 pm

  • Educated to A-Level
  • Experience working with customers
  • Experience working with reports
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • GCSE Grade 4/C in Maths and English
