If yes, then our client would love to hear from you! They’re looking for an experienced domestic abuse professional to join their Derby City Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) team. You’ll be out and about in the community, providing a high-quality frontline service to local people at the highest risk of domestic abuse, using a client-centred and trauma-informed approach.
Job requirements

Identify and assess the risks and needs of domestic abuse victim/survivors using an evidence-based risk identification checklist, creating a safety plan that works for them and their needs.
*
Manage your case load, making sure each victim referred receives the appropriate service that fits their individual needs.
*
Work within a multi-agency framework including MARAC, the police, health professionals, child protection, housing practitioners and other voluntary and statutory specialists.
*
Advise victim/survivors on civil and criminal remedies and their housing rights. You’ll support them through the MARAC process, working closely with the police and other agencies to advocate for their overall safety and well-being.
*
Provide practical, emotional and advocacy support that empowers victims of abuse and empowers them to overcome their current situation, focusing on safety planning, practical safety measures and the use of civil and criminal justice systems to increase protection.

Work in partnership, where relevant/appropriate, with the perpetrator intervention service, making sure all necessary processes are carried out to maintain the safety of the victim/survivor.

Contribute to the external accreditation of the service by making sure standards are adhered to. Participate in activities to achieve re-accreditation.
What they’re looking for
*
A good level of education including GCSE English and maths, or equivalent.
*
Evidence of self-development or formal learning and development in sector skills.
*
A minimum of 12 months experience directly supporting adults who have experienced domestic abuse or who have other complex needs.
*
A formal qualification, such as IDVA, or the willingness to complete this.
*
A good understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on those affected by it and the legal and practical remedies available to them.
*
An understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures and legislation relating to domestic violence.
*
Full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle for work.
*
DBS check.
*
