Job Title: Special Support Assistant

Salary: £23,413.78 – £24,771.87 (FTE £27,343 – £28,929)
Location: Croydon
Hours: 36 hours per week, 44.65 weeks per year

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Special Support Assistants to join a newly formed class at a specialist satellite and outreach service for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). You will play a key role in supporting students with high anxiety and individual needs, providing a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Build strong, trusting relationships with students
Engage students through their interests and motivations
Recognise and support emotional dysregulation
Encourage positive communication and self-expression
Create a creative and supportive learning atmosphere
Provide guidance in social situations and emotional understanding
Required Skills:

A person-centred approach to learning
Ability to support students with anxiety and neurodiverse needs
Interest or skills in areas like sports, IT, gaming, or creative hobbies (advantageous)
Patience, resourcefulness, and creativity in managing student behaviours
