Role: General Operatives – Planned Programme & Voids

Location: Barnstaple and surrounding areas

Salary: £12.11 per hour – plus benefits

Hours: Planned – 40 hours per week

Voids – 37 hours per week

Contract: Full time/ Permanent

The Role

We are looking to recruit two General Operatives to join our Home2Home team. Supporting either our planned programme or our empty homes (Voids) programme, you will assist in the delivery of our maintenance programme through the effective and coordinated support of multi skilled and general operatives in Barnstaple and the surrounding areas.

The main responsibilities of the roles are:

General Operative – Planned:

  • Working alongside our team of kitchen and bathroom fitters to support our Home Improvement programme in particular prep work for the electricians, including chasing out for cables and support for operations that require more than one person.
  • Working alongside kitchen and bathroom fitters to support works at various stages of the install from rip out to finishing touches.

General Operative – Voids:

  • Supporting the Empty Homes team in renovating properties and getting them ready for reletting.
  • Working alongside our team of Multi Skilled Operatives (MSO) in supporting larger work projects or those requiring more than one person.

Within both roles, you will be:

  • Assisting on site with general labouring and delivery duties, including manual handling tasks.
  • Loading and unloading all debris/materials as required by the MSO from or to stores, site or place of disposal.
  • Assisting in the purchasing of materials or hiring of tools or plant as instructed by the MSO.

About You

  • You will be looking to work for a supportive company delivering valuable services to the local community.
  • You will have a basic knowledge of the building industry with experience assisting in one or more of the following areas; brickwork / blockwork, paving, plastering / rendering, roofing, carpentry, fencing, decoration.
  • You will have working knowledge of health & safety principles.
  • You will work well in a team environment and be supportive of others.
  • Hold a full drivers licence.
