Programme Assistant – Obesity Action Scotland
Grade 2 – £ 23,003 Fixed Term – 4 months (pro rata 0.3 or 0.4FTE: 10.5 – 14 hours per week)
(Flexible work pattern can be negotiated, weekly hours will be fixed by agreement at either 10.5 or 14hours)

The Role
The Programme Assistant will provide administrative support within Obesity Action Scotland. Obesity Action Scotland is a national advocacy organisation concerned with preventing overweight and obesity through improved diet and food environments. Obesity Action Scotland is hosted and supported by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Reporting to the Head, the Programme Assistant ‘s responsibilities will include:
- Organising and supporting the head in efficient running of the unit including diary, correspondence, spreadsheet and database management
- Organising and co-ordinating meetings, communications and events
- Tracking and monitoring unit finances and preparing financial reports
- Producing minutes and records of meetings including the organisation’s Steering Group
- Liaising with a variety of external stakeholders
About You
The postholder will require the following.
- Proven administrative skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Good planning and organisational skills including attention to detail
- Excellent IT skills including the use of databases and Microsoft Office
- Significant level of numeracy to track finances
- Strong interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Evidence of good and effective team working
- Knowledge of digital tools such as Mailchimp, Eventbrite
- Knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
- Discretion and sensitivity are essential
- A degree level qualification or minimum 12 months experience in a similar role
