Our client are seeking a compassionate and experienced Support Worker to join our team in providing assistance and guidance to young adults facing challenges in their day-to-day lives. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong understanding of the unique needs of young people and is passionate about making a positive impact on their well-being. As a Support Worker, you will provide tailored support, ensuring the emotional, social, and practical needs of young adults are met.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide Individual Support: Work with young adults to develop personalised support plans that address their specific needs, goals, and aspirations.
* Emotional Support: Offer guidance and encouragement, helping young adults navigate life challenges, build confidence, and develop coping strategies.
* Facilitate Independence: Support young adults in gaining independence in various areas, including life skills, education, employment, and community engagement.
* Mentorship and Advocacy: Act as a mentor and advocate, ensuring young adults have access to appropriate resources and services, including healthcare, housing, and social support.
* Safeguarding: Maintain a safe environment for young adults, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being while adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with other professionals, including social workers, healthcare providers, and educators, to ensure a holistic approach to the young adult’s support.
* Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly assess the progress of young adults and update records and reports on their development, challenges, and achievements.
* Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies or crises, offering immediate support and intervention when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience:
* Previous experience working with young adults, especially in a support, care, or mentorship role, is essential.
Knowledge:
* Understanding of the challenges faced by young people, including mental health issues, substance misuse, homelessness, and social isolation.
Communication:
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with young adults, families, and other professionals
Problem-Solving:
* Ability to think on your feet and provide solutions to complex situations while remaining calm under pressure.
Empathy and Patience:
* A genuine interest in helping young adults overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
Flexibility:
* Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and potentially on-call shifts.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Relevant qualifications in Social Care, Youth Work, or a related field.
* Training in safeguarding, mental health first aid, or similar certifications.
* Experience with risk assessment and support planning.
