Description
A warm, inclusive primary school in Ealing is seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team from September 2025. This full-time position involves providing 1:1 support for a child in Nursery with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), who is currently non-verbal.
The school is looking for a confident, calm and patient practitioner with a clear understanding of autism and experience supporting children with additional needs in an Early Years setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent, nurturing 1:1 support for a nursery-aged child with autism
Use visual aids, PECS, Makaton or other communication strategies to support non-verbal communication
Deliver targeted activities to promote social, emotional and academic development
Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external specialists to follow the child’s personalised support plan
Assist with personal care routines when required
Requirements:
Proven experience supporting children with autism in an Early Years or SEN setting
Confidence working with non-verbal children and using alternative communication methods
Strong understanding of early childhood development and SEN best practice
Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting complex needs
Committed to promoting inclusion and positive outcomes for all children
