SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are looking for empathetic, proactive, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to work in welcoming and inclusive schools across Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of pupils with additional learning needs.

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will be supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH. Working closely with class teachers and SENCOs, you will help deliver targeted support and promote a positive, inclusive learning environment.

SEN TA Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEN.
Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
Encourage pupils’ independence, self-esteem, and social interaction.
Use strategies to manage behaviour and de-escalate situations calmly.
Collaborate with teaching and support staff to adapt lessons as needed.
Monitor and record students’ progress and provide feedback to the SENCO.
Support pupils’ personal care needs, if required.
Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:

Experience working with children or young people with SEN as a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) is highly desirable.
CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential).
A degree in psychology, counselling, education or a similar field.
A patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
