SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hammersmith and Fulham, W12
Pay: £90-£105 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, September 2025 start – Full academic year
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:45 PM
Commutable from: Shepherd’s Bush, Acton, Chiswick, Hammersmith, White City
The Opportunity
Long Term Futures is collaborating with a nurturing and inclusive primary school in Hammersmith and Fulham to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a Year 1 pupil. This full-time role, commencing in September 2025, involves working closely with a child who is pre-verbal and displays defiant behaviour.
The school is committed to providing a supportive environment for all pupils, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity and tailored support strategies. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in implementing behaviour management plans, facilitating communication strategies, and ensuring the safety and engagement of the pupil throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one support to a Year 1 pupil with ASD and behavioural challenges
Implement and monitor behaviour management strategies
Utilise visual aids and alternative communication methods to support a pre-verbal child
Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and adapt Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Liaise with parents and external professionals to ensure consistent support strategiesWhat We’re Looking For
Experience working with children with ASD and behavioural needs
Strong understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
Familiarity with alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton)
Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations
A proactive approach to supporting learning and promoting positive behaviour
