Job Advert: Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant (Male Role Model Preferred)

Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Pay: £89.38 per day (term time only)
Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a confident, resilient, and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils who display challenging behaviour within a mainstream educational setting. Within this mainstream secondary school, a number of pupils access a specialist base which provides tailored support to the learners with small group and 1:1 in-class support to help them manage their behaviour and regulate their emotions.
The successful candidate will serve as a positive role model and mentor, providing consistent behaviour support and helping pupils develop their emotional and social skills.
Due to the nature of the role and the specific needs of the pupils, we are particularly interested in applicants who can offer a strong and reliable male presence in the classroom. Experience working with vulnerable young people, especially those with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs or behavioural difficulties, is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to pupils exhibiting challenging behaviour
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to implement individual behaviour plans
Help pupils stay on task and develop positive coping strategies
De-escalate situations and provide a calm, supportive presence
Encourage personal development and emotional resilience in students
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or care setting
A strong, confident approach with excellent behaviour management skills
The ability to build trust and rapport quickly
A patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude
A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
A genuine interest in supporting children with complex needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
