Job Title: Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham, London
Job Type: Full-Time
Daily Rate: £95 – £120 per day
Start Date: ASAP or September 2025
About the Role:
TeacherActive is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Newham, currently looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils on a full-time basis.

You will play a key role in providing tailored support to children with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH.
Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and engage in learning
Support classroom teachers in delivering inclusive lessons and adapting materials to suit individual learning needs
Work closely with the SENCO to monitor progress and implement strategies from IEPs and EHCPs
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Foster a nurturing and supportive relationship with pupils, staff, and families
Contribute to a safe, happy, and inclusive school environment
Requirements:
A minimum of 6 months’ experience working in a school setting, ideally supporting pupils with SEN
A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to working with children
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent is desirable
A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures (safeguarding training provided if needed)
