Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant
Location: B27 (Acocks Green area)
Contract Type: Full-Time / Term-Time Only
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications
Start Date: September 2025

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the B27 area is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to join the team from September 2025.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and those who benefit from personalised and structured learning.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils within the classroom and through small group intervention sessions. You’ll work closely with teachers and the SENCO to help pupils achieve their individual targets and develop confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivering targeted interventions for academic and emotional development.

Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and encouraging positive behaviour strategies.

Assisting with phonics and picture-based learning, especially for early or non-verbal learners.

Providing general classroom support, ensuring inclusive access to the curriculum.

Offering personal care support where needed, in line with safeguarding and dignity protocols.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is:

Kind, patient, and committed to inclusive education.

Experienced or confident in working with SEND and SEMH pupils.

Skilled in adapting learning strategies to meet diverse needs.

Comfortable assisting with basic personal care, if required.

Reliable, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Level 2 Teaching Assistant or Level 2 Childcare qualification (or higher).

Experience working with children in a primary school or childcare setting.

Understanding of SEND strategies, phonics, and visual learning methods.
