We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join our clients’ Edinburgh office.

The Opportunity
As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll be joining a dynamic and supportive team. You’ll get the opportunity to work with an industry-varied client base, handling a range of accounting tasks while continuing to study towards your qualifications. You will gain exposure to both compliance work and advisory services, building skills that will set you up for long-term success in your accountancy career.

What you’ll do:

* Prepare statutory accounts and maintain records for a diverse portfolio of clients

* Handle VAT returns and cloud-based processing, with the opportunity to work autonomously

* Begin offering advice on best practices, with partner review, and take responsibility for parts of client projects

* Assist with basic compliance tasks and computations, ensuring high standards

* Manage communication with HMRC and support clients from an accounting perspective

* Potential involvement in payroll preparation and basic VAT tasks

* Work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, supporting senior staff when needed

* Keep track of your chargeable time and work towards delivering on utilisation targets

What we’re looking for:

* Minimum 2 years of practice experience preparing accounts, ideally under FRS102 1A

* Good experience with VAT returns and cloud processing

* Familiarity with Xero (preferable)

* You do not need to be qualified currently—what matters most will be your practical experience and your passion for the industry

* studying towards ACA/ACCA/CA
