A specialist school are actively looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to assist with speech, language and, communication difficulties as well as, those with complex and, learning needs. This setting in Bexhill-On-Sea, caters for residential and, day pupils between the ages of 5 to 19. They are proud to say that they are a total communication enviroment. Responsibilities of a Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist:
- Assist with 1:1 and, group interventions to improve communication through personalised methods to accomodate to each child’s invidual needs.
- Encourage different ways to communicate and, learn specialist communication methods such as, Makaton, Sign Language, PECS and, TEACHH.
- Will work to significantly improve stutters, apraxia of speech, dysarthria, selective mutism and speech delay.
- Liaising with the class teacher, therapists and, support staff.
- Monitor and report on students’ progress, adjusting support plans as necessary to meet their evolving needs.
Requirements of a Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist:
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and, colleagues.
- Desire to work with children with special educational needs.
- Adaptable and pro-active approach.
- Patience, empathy, and, a positive attitude.
