ABOUT THE ROLE

Richard is a 39-year-old young man with Down Syndrome and autistic tendencies, he lives in his own home in Droitwich Spa and needs 24/7 care. He is easy going with no adverse behavioural issues. He is looking for a Bank Carer to join his team of four dedicated and loyal Support Carers.

The role of Bank Carer will mainly involve covering staff holidays and sickness. Your holiday entitlement will be calculated based on the hours worked, equivalent to 5.6 weeks per year on a pro-rata basis. Holidays are planned well in advance against a rota which is published many months in advance so you would get plenty of notice of when shifts cover is required. The role would also involve covering the occasional sick leave which would be less predictable, but the team is flexible and can swap shifts if needed. Each shift starts at 17.00 and lasts 24 hours including a sleep over. The Carer Team have a lovely room dedicated to providing them with a calm and organised workspace and a comfy bed and storage for their personal items.

Richard needs assistance with everything; this includes personal care, taking him out and about, cooking, cleaning, shopping, dealing with correspondence & finances, taking him to doctor appointments, helping him receive & visit friends & keeping in touch with his family. We have a well-established routine, which includes a cleaning rota, a menu for the week, correspondence folders and a finance protocol which is easy to follow and with training available where necessary.

Richard likes to go out and about and especially likes walks, we have a National Trust membership, there are lots of parks to visit with some that are just around the corner, all of which adds variety to his day on top of his organised activities. He also enjoys chilling out in front of Netflix or watching his DVD which gives plenty of time for his team to perform their other duties. Because of the activity arrangements owning a car is rather essential but for the right candidate we could make an exception if this person is prepared to use the public transport.

ABOUT YOU

Richard is looking for someone who understands his needs and can also provide emotional support. The ideal candidate will ideally live locally to him, be flexible, patient, have a good sense of humour and a genuine caring nature. You will need to be enthusiastic and inspiring to bring a sense of energy into Richards life. You must also be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity, promoting my independence and respecting my home.

Experience is advantageous but not compulsory as all training will be provided.

Suitable candidate will also need to hold a clean driving license and/or be prepared to use public transport.

HOURS REQUIRED

To be confirmed and agreed in advance.

BENEFITS

In return for your dedication, youll receive a competitive rate of pay in addition to:

  • The opportunity to be included on the on-call rota payable at £33/shift for being on stand-by and paid whether called upon or not.
