Description
A catering assistant’s job is to provide support in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and drinks, as well as other catering duties. Some of their responsibilities include:
- Preparing the dining area: This may include setting up furniture and trolleys, cleaning, and putting things away.
- Preparing the service area: This includes preparing hot cupboards and other equipment.
- Assisting with food preparation: This may include operating slicing and chipping machines.
- Washing dishes and equipment: This includes washing dishes, cutlery, tables, and other catering equipment.
- Maintaining cleanliness: This includes keeping the kitchen and service areas clean and tidy.
- Ensuring health and safety: This includes ensuring food hygiene and health and safety policies are followed.
- Stock control: This includes receiving deliveries, putting them away, and maintaining good stock rotation.
- Customer service: This includes creating a friendly and helpful atmosphere for customers.
