The Trading Route is a brand new, first of its kind Lager-House serving as the tap-room for Manchester Union Brewery whilst also serving fantastic rotisserie-style food from the kitchen, and selling high quality local products from the Provisions retail space. We are opening at the start of December so now is your chance for a new and exciting opportunity to join our team!
We are seeking dedicated and skilled chefs to join a small kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food preparation and safety. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team environment.

We have a small menu with both hot and cold dishes for dine-in or takeaway – mostly centred around the rotisserie-roasted meat offerings but also including freshly baked bread, sandwiches, and desserts.

Duties

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cleaning and completing orders during service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting any shortages to management.
  • Participate in menu planning and development as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant or similar culinary environment is preferred.
  • Experience with Rotisserie ovens is desirable.
  • Experience with baking bread and desserts is desirable.
  • Experience with completing orders for takeaway platforms such as Deliveroo.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented atmosphere while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively during busy periods.
  • A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.

We will be serving a limited menu for take-away only during the mornings from 8am-11am and then the main kitchen opening times for dine-in customers will be 11am-9pm which means that day time/morning availability is required for this role but no late nights!
