English Graduate – Cover Supervisor
Location: Burntwood (Staffordshire)
Hours: Day To Day/ 8.30am – 3.30am
Pay: £85 – £90

We are seeking a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to join our secondary school team in Burntwood (Staffordshire). This role requires you to provide cover for teacher absences, including sickness and other leave, ensuring students remain engaged with pre-set work in a well-managed classroom environment. If you have strong organisational skills, excellent classroom management abilities, and enjoy working with young people, we’d love to hear from you.
This role is on a day-to-day basis (Monday – Friday), due to the nature of the role you may receive a call on the day of work between 7am – 7:30am or a notice of a day before.
Key Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:
Oversee and manage a classroom in the absence of a regular teacher
Ensure students remain on task and follow the provided lesson plan
Distribute and explain pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions to students.
Monitor progress and provide feedback to the relevant teacher or department.
Manage any disruptions effectively and report concerns to senior staff.
Maintain classroom discipline and ensure a positive learning environment.
Provide support to students, helping them engage with the curriculum.
Collaborate with teachers and staff to enhance the overall learning experience.
Key Requirements of a Cover Supervisor:
Teaching Assistant Level 2 or equivalent
A sincere passion for working with children
The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
Good knowledge on general subjects
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
Will have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service. – If you don’t already have a DBS, we can help you apply for one.
