Job Title: Essential Skills Maths Tutor (Skills for Life and Work) Location: 182-188 Cambrai Street, Belfast, BT13 3JH Responsible To: SFLW Operations Manager Objective: To ensure all learners reach their potential and achieve their learning targets and qualifications. Ensure professional planning and preparation of schemes of work and lesson plans to maximise learning and retention and qualification attainment. Hours: 35 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 8am-4.15pm, Fri 8am-12pm. Part time hours may be considered) Contract: Permanent Salary:£25, 218 – £28, 310 per annum (New appointees are normally appointed on the first point of the pay scale) Job Description: Design schemes of work and lesson plans Facilitate and manage the delivery of Essential Skills Maths to SFLW learners Complete and maintain individual Personal Learning Plans Review learners progress monthly Maintain effective information management, administrative and reporting systems, ensuring all quality processes are followed Manage own time to meet monitoring and evaluation procedures Support learners whilst they are participating on the programme and identify barriers to learning Ensure Health & Safety of participants is paramount Manage system updates and resources required for the delivery of the programme Ensure learners achieve outcomes recorded on their Personal Training Plans Be aware of, and adhere to Usels Policies and Procedures To perform such other tasks deemed necessary by management, to ensure the effective delivery of the programme. Person Specification Essential: GCSE (or any qualification which is deemed to be equivalent) in Maths (Grade A* C) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Maths. A third level qualification in which Maths forms a minimum of 50% of the subject studied. For example: Additional Maths, Applied Mathematics Computer Science and Maths, Mathematics, Mathematic Sciences, Maths and Computer Studies, Pure Mathematics, Chemistry and Applied Maths, Physics and Economics Engineering. *Existing Essential Skills Tutors recognised as qualified by the Department prior to 1st August 2012 and currently in employment will retain this recognition* Hold, be working towards or happy to work towards a recognised teaching qualification, i.e., Certificate in Teaching (Ulster University) Ability to engage with and motivate learners to reach their full potential. At least 6 months experience working in an SEN environment.
