The Role
- Location: Loughborough
- Job Type: Full-time
- Salary: £16.00 – £17.50 per hour
- Hours: 38 hours per week
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
As a Steel Plater, you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling steel plate components to exact specifications. Your key duties will include:
- Cutting, shaping, and assembling steel plate components
- Constructing parts and assemblies based on engineering drawings with precision
- Conducting visual inspections to ensure quality and adherence to technical drawings
- Operating fabrication machinery, including grinders, drill presses, brakes, rolls, shears, and flame cutters
- Reading and working from engineering drawings and specifications
- Ensuring proper alignment of product components using appropriate hand tools
- Performing fabrication tasks such as grinding and burning
- Reviewing blueprints and drawings throughout the fabrication process to ensure accuracy
- Using furnaces or hand torches to heat materials for bending or shaping
- Creating templates and jigs for repetitive fabrication tasks to maintain consistent quality
The Person
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Strong knowledge and experience in sheet metal fabrication
- Understanding of quality control (QC) inspection processes
- Experience using drilling machines, rolling machines, and guillotines
- Previous experience working with steel materials
- The ability to interpret and work from technical drawings
- Proficiency in fabrication techniques
- Competency in using hand and power tools
