Description

We are looking for two Female Care / Support workers to join our team of Personal Assistants supporting one of our clients in the Wombourne area. The role will be varied, but you will be supporting our client living with a degenerative muscular disease to lead an individual and independent lifestyle within their own home and the community. Our client has a wide range of interests particularly health, nutrition, travel, period dramas and education.

You will also support our client outside of the home to access the community in their wheelchair. Afull clean driving licence is needed as you will be required to drive the clients Wheelchair accessible Vehicle.

You will be working as part of a small team, on both a 1:1 & 2:1 basis.

We have two roles available:

PA1) – Contracted hours (15-35 hours per week)
PA2) – Casual contact to provide support on an ad hoc basis.

Shifts between the hours of 8am-10pm and will be a combination of the following on a rolling rota:

  • 8am-10am

  • 8am-1.30pm

  • 8am-6.30pm (may occasionally be required)

  • 12.30pm-6.30pm

  • 5.30pm-10pm

  • 8.45pm-10pm

All training is provided and will consist of e-learning courses, face-to-face sessions, practical training, clinical training and competencies. The training is bespoke to the client and fully comprehensive for meeting their needs. We also provide refresher training on a regular basis, to keep your knowledge and skills current.

Who we are looking for:

You should be proactive, organised and able to arrange the day’s activities with our client without direction. You must be self motivated, reliable and an excellent team player. As well as being a naturally caring and compassionate person, were seeking Care / Support workers with experience of:

  • All aspects of personal care

  • Moving and handling including hoisting

  • Meal preparation of freshly cooked gluten free meals / assistance with feeding

  • Medication preparation and assistance

  • Housework including cleaning, housework, maintenance and some gardening

  • Companionship (incl. conversations, watching TV, games/hobbies)

  • Supporting with administrative tasks, shopping and organisation of visits

  • Supporting clients to attend outside activities/appointments in a wheelchair

You should also have:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Flexibility to cover annual leave and sickness

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. You must also have eligibility to work in the UK. We are unable to offer sponsorship.
