Salary: £450-£500 per week

Job Type: Long-term role starting January 2025

The School and Role

We are working with a high-achieving, dynamic secondary school located in Chelmsford who are seeking a Food Tech and Textiles Technician. We are seeking individuals with a background in cooking or sewing to work as a Food Tech and Textiles Technician to support the department and ensure that lessons run smoothly.

As a Food Tech and Textiles Technician you will be responsible for preparing practical lessons, assisting during lessons where necessary and clearing up after practical lessons. You will be part of a supportive and experienced team, working in a well-resourced department to create engaging, challenging, and meaningful learning experiences. The successful Food Tech and Textiles Technician will be organised, flexible and have the highest standards for student’s health and safety.

Requirements

The desired Food Tech and Textiles Technician will;

Have a relevant qualification in either Food Tech/ Textiles or a related subject.
Have experience working in a kitchen and/or have a knowledge of working with textiles.
Ensure the application of Health & Safety procedures and to raise awareness of Health & Safety issues in the environment.
Ensure demonstration materials, equipment and provisions are available for use by the teaching staff. This includes the purchase of items from local retail outlets.
Be responsible for Weekly ordering for ingredients, preparing and checking orders for the department and maintaining stock levels.
