About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial in maintaining and enhancing the beauty and functionality of our outdoor spaces.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform general grounds maintenance duties, including mowing, edging, and trimming lawns
* Plant and maintain flowers, trees, and shrubs
* Apply fertilisers, herbicides, and pest control treatments as directed
* Operate and maintain grounds keeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers
* Remove litter and debris from landscapes, walkways, and parking areas
* Perform basic irrigation system maintenance and adjustments
* Assist in the installation of hardscaping features like paths or retaining walls
* Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations
* Report any issues or potential hazards to the supervisor
Required Qualifications
* Previous experience in grounds maintenance or a related field
* Knowledge of plants, landscaping techniques, and grounds keeping equipment
* Ability to operate powered grounds maintenance equipment safely
* Valid driving licence
* Basic understanding of health and safety practices in grounds maintenance
Desired Skills
* Horticultural qualifications or relevant certifications
* Experience with sustainable landscaping practices
* Knowledge of irrigation systems and basic repairs
* Ability to read and interpret landscape plans
