Here at Brockenhurst College, we are looking to recruit a Helpdesk Technician on a full-time, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £23,556 per annum.

The Role:

As our Helpdesk Technician, you will provide hardware and software support for users of the College’s information technology systems; to ensure that staff and students receive the best possible support in accordance with College policies and procedures.

Responsibilities as our Helpdesk Technician will include:

  • To help with the successful running of the IT helpdesk which includes the provision of 1st line support for staff and students experiencing problems with any operating systems or applications installed upon their workstations or the network. If unable to resolve, escalate to 2nd line support.
  • To help log requests for support and fault notification into our Helpdesk system.
  • To routinely, monitor overdue support calls in the helpdesk system and where necessary chase the assigned technician for an update.
  • To help with the ordering of Printer supplies and stock checks to be reconciled against records.
  • To ensure that the hardware database holds accurate and up to date details of each workstation’s hardware configuration and to provide reports on request.
  • To provide day-to-day support for Colleges devices, including Windows and Apple devices.
  • To join with other members of the IT Services team in arranging, agreeing, and participating in a working rota to ensure that an acceptable level of support is available for evening, weekend and out of normal term IT activities.
  • To perform fault diagnosis and testing of hardware and network cables and to make repairs where possible.
  • To assist with the development, deployment, and maintenance of workstation re-builds.
  • Assist during induction process by allocating paperwork and ID cards to new starters with appropriate door access.
  • Assist with the disabling of staff user accounts once they have left the college.
  • Ensure that IT Services policies and procedures are adhered to.

As our Helpdesk Technician, you’ll ideally have:

  • Working knowledge of Windows 10 and above.
  • Experience in PC hardware and interfacing.
  • Experience in Printer and other peripheral support.
  • Experience using MS Office and other Microsoft applications.
  • Basic understanding of Telecommunication systems.
  • Customer Service/front facing experience.
  • The ability to follow section procedures systematically.
  • The ability to document procedures clearly and systematically.
