HLTA – Key Stage 2 Support – Barking
Long Term Futures are working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Barking to appoint a skilled and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support across Key Stage 2.
This diverse and community-driven school places a strong emphasis on inclusion, cultural understanding, and high expectations for all learners. Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable but not essential, as the school supports a significant number of bilingual pupils and values home language engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver small group interventions and occasional whole-class cover, particularly in Upper Key Stage 2
* Support teachers in planning and adapting lessons for pupils of varying ability levels
* Implement support strategies for pupils with EAL and SEND, contributing to inclusive classroom practice
* Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback and maintaining records
* Assist in preparation of learning materials and the running of enrichment activities
* Foster a positive and engaging learning environment aligned with school values
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* HLTA qualification or strong experience covering lessons and delivering interventions
* Confidence supporting Key Stage 2 pupils, especially in a diverse, urban setting
* Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with pupils from multilingual backgrounds
* Fluency in Spanish (highly desirable)
* A proactive and adaptable attitude to daily school life and responsibilities

* Well-connected via Barking station (District, Hammersmith & City, Overground, C2C)
* Local bus routes include: 5, EL1, EL2, 238, 62
* Easily commutable from Newham, Redbridge, and Dagenham
