Queenswood School are recruiting for a Housekeeper to join our support team! We are looking for passionate people to make sure our sites are safe and comfortable, whilst covering all aspects of housekeeping. You will will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the homes and will have a flexible approach and be able to respond quickly to requests for assistance. This position is Monday to Friday, 2pm-5pm, 15 hours per week, over 40 weeks of the year (39 school weeks the school is open and 1 x week at the end of August before coming back into school)

Queenswood School is set across two sites in a beautiful rural location in Herefordshire. We are an Independent Specialist day school specialising in the education and care of children and young people between the age of 11 to 19 years who are diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum or have SEMH.

Your role will be to deliver an efficient and high-quality housekeeping service within the school, to assist the wellbeing, comfort and development of our students and young people.

Main duties:

  • To deliver and maintain a clean and tidy environment throughout the school, in line with operational standards and ensure that work processes comply with statutory regulations.
  • To ensure that standards are delivered in all areas of the school in a timely and efficient manner, as part of the wider team.
  • To identify and report damage, faults and other related issues to the maintenance department or Head Teacher to ensure that we continue to meet quality standards and statutory regulations.

Due to the location of the school, you will require your own transport.

The successful candidate will have ideally have experience of daily cleaning schedules and ensure appropriate paperwork in completed and a good knowledge of health and safety legislation applicable to the role, along with the following characteristics:

Communication – During your role your working environment may involve interacting with our young people we support that may display varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties.

Organisation – As well as supervising the staff team, you’ll need to be confident and organised in record keeping, ensuring issues are logged on the internal computer systems and keeping up to date with routine maintenance checks.

Attentive – No two jobs will be the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
