Would you like to be part of a cross-county, cross-service team enabling households to access affordable housing?
We are looking for the right person to join our busy Devon Home Choice Team at North Devon Council as a Housing Register Officer, based at Brynsworthy Environment Centre, Barnstaple with a possibility of hybrid home working further to training. You will be trained as a member of the Devon Home Choice Team providing a customer friendly housing service, working with both internal and external customers and services.
This post will:
Ensure the efficient and fair allocation of affordable housing by assessing applications to the Devon Home Choice Register and for affordable ownership opportunities
Undertake housing register management functions
Ensure property adverts meet the requirements of policy and planning agreements
Work within a county wide partnership to ensure delivery of Devon Home Choice Policy and Procedures
Work collaboratively with services to deliver our wider housing and Council priorities
You will need to have:
Minimum 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent qualification/experience
An understanding of local authority housing allocation functions
Sophisticated communication and interpersonal skills and capable of professionally representing the Council and Devon Home Choice Partnership
Ability to understand complex information and assess within a Policy framework
Ability to organise and prioritise your own workloads whilst working within a small team to meet service deadlines
Good computer/keyboard literacy
The successful candidate will be able to enjoy the outstanding natural environment that North Devon offers. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounded by award-winning beaches and sand dunes with ample outdoor sports available on land, on water and in the air. In Devon, the areas economic growth is only surpassed by Exeter and so there is a certain buzz to North Devon that is growing substantially.
