Main Purpose of the Role

Independent Chair of Child & Adult Protection Committees (PKC12594)
£350 per day, plus work related travel and subsistence expenses

Perth and Kinross Council is looking for an Independent Chair for both the Child Protection Committee and (Convenor of) the Adult Protection Committee. You will Chair both committees, which meet on a quarterly basis with additional development sessions per annum.
Reporting to the Perth and Kinross Chief Officer Group (COG), you will provide the Committees with effective strategic leadership and direction in carrying out their core business functions.
Both Perth and Kinross Council Child and Adult Protection Committees are well established, and provide effective strategic leadership and direction in carrying out their core business functions as set out in relevant legislation and national guidance.
To ensure greater connectivity and opportunities for collaboration across public protection areas in Perth and Kinross, the you will also chair the Public Protection Coordinators Group, with Chairs and Lead Officers from across the Partnerships. You will ensure that the work of the Committees and Partnerships are integrated and have close links with relevant strategic and operational structures at both a local and national level.
You should have extensive professional experience of working within the area of public protection as well as extensive experience of chairing complex/professional multi-agency meetings, at a senior level. You should have detailed knowledge and understanding of public sector governance and an ability to demonstrate leadership behaviours at a strategic management level.
You will provide the COG with regular reports on the performance of local multi-agency Child and Adult Protection services as well as report to Perth and Kinross full Council on an annual basis.
A sound understanding of self-evaluation and ability to carry forward a complex partnership agenda is also required.
Offer
The offer of work will be for three years, with the option to extend for a further two. It is anticipated that you will work on average 3 / 4 days per month, in which you will be given £350 per day (non-pensionable) plus work related travel expenses and subsistence, at agreed rates.
Office accommodation will be provided along with business support. Meetings will alternate between hybrid and in person.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Perth & Kinross Council.
