Job Title: Learning Mentor
Location: Scarborough
Salary Range: £83.34 – £96 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Join our dedicated team as a Teaching Assistant, specialising in Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will work closely with educators to deliver tailored support to students with unique learning needs, enhancing their educational experience through one-on-one and small group interventions. Candidates should be empathetic, proactive, and experienced in supporting SEN learners.

Responsibilities of the Learning Mentor:

Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them overcome academic and personal challenges.
Work closely with teaching staff to identify students who may need additional support and develop personalised learning strategies.
Motivate and encourage students to set and achieve their academic goals, promoting a growth mindset and a positive attitude towards learning.
Assist students in developing effective study habits, time management, and organisational skills.
Foster a supportive and positive learning environment, building students’ self-confidence and resilience.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents, ensuring that appropriate interventions are in place.
Support students during key transitions, such as moving between year groups or preparing for exams.
Offer emotional and motivational support to students who may struggle with stress, anxiety, or other barriers to learning.
Contribute to the wider school community by promoting positive behaviours, engagement, and inclusion.
Requirements of the Learning Mentor:

Previous experience working with young people in an educational or support role is highly desirable.
Strong communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and support students to reach their full academic potential.
A proactive, empathetic approach to problem-solving and a commitment to students’ well-being.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of strategies to support students with a range of learning needs, including those with emotional or behavioural challenges.
A relevant qualification in education, youth work, or mentoring (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, Youth Work qualification, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
