We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our supportive secondary school located in the heart of Wandsworth. The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with varying learning needs within the classroom. You will provide tailored support to individual students or small groups, ensuring they can access the curriculum and make progress in line with their peers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting the engagement of students in the classroom ensuring they complete tasks independently or with the appropriate assistance.
* Work with students with a range of learning needs, including those with SEN (Special Educational Needs), to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
* Assist in the preparation and adaptation of classroom materials and resources to suit individual learning styles.
* Provide one-on-one or small group support, focusing on academic, social, and emotional development.
* Assist students in developing effective study skills and strategies for independent learning.
* Monitor and track students’ progress, reporting back to teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) as required.
* Support students during extracurricular activities or school trips when necessary, ensuring their safety and inclusion.
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, supporting students in building confidence and improving self-esteem.
About You:
* Experience working with students in an educational setting, ideally in a learning support or teaching assistant role, is highly desirable.
* A genuine passion for helping students with diverse learning needs and promoting inclusive education.
* Strong communication skills.
* The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
* A patient, empathetic approach with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff alike.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
* Ideally, you will have a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN qualification), but we also welcome applications from individuals with relevant experience who are willing to undertake further training.
