About the role
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experiencedLevel 2 SEN Tutor Trainerto deliver training and support to adult learners aspiring to become SEN tutors. You will teach the following Level 2 qualifications to equip learners with the skills and knowledge needed to support individuals with special educational needs (SEN):
- Understanding Autism
- Understanding Behaviour that Challenges
This role focuses on mentoring and teaching adult learners to excel as future SEN tutors. You will empower learners to achieve their qualifications and prepare for meaningful careers in SEN education through engaging training sessions and expert guidance.
Primary purpose (intent)
As a Level 2 SEN Tutor Trainer, you will guide adult learners through their qualifications, providing clear teaching, constructive support, and tailored development plans. You will play a vital role in helping aspiring SEN tutors build their skills and confidence to succeed in supporting SEN students. By fostering an interactive and inclusive learning environment, you will inspire learners to become effective, professional educators in the SEN field.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, learner-focused teaching sessions (via Zoom and/or face-to-face) to help learners understand key SEN principles, strategies, and responsibilities.
- Equip learners with the skills and knowledge required to teach and support individuals with SEN.
- Adapt materials and teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of adult learners and ensure their progression.
- Conduct initial assessments to establish learners starting points and develop personalised learning plans.
- Monitor learner progress, providing feedback and support to guide their development toward achieving qualifications.
- Plan and deliver engaging induction sessions and set achievable learning goals that build learners knowledge and practical competence.
- Provide clear guidance on implementing teaching strategies for SEN education, such as behaviour management and personalised learning.
- Facilitate the development of soft skills in English, Maths, and ICT, where applicable, to enhance learners overall teaching capabilities.
- Maintain accurate and compliant learner records to support both GDPR and funding requirements.
- Ensure safeguarding, Prevent, and health and safety procedures are prioritised throughout the learning process.
- Support continuous curriculum improvements to keep the qualifications relevant and aligned with SEN sector needs.
- Stay updated on industry practices, standards, and quality frameworks such as Ofsted guidance.
- Participate actively in CPD, mandatory training, and team activities to maintain professional standards in training delivery.
Skills and qualifications
Essential
- Proven experience in teaching and mentoring aspiring SEN educators, focusing on delivering qualifications.
- Level 3 or above teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, PTTLS, or DTLLS).
- Expertise in SEN education and practical understanding of strategies for supporting individuals with SEN.
- Level 2 qualifications in English, Maths, and ICT.
- Strong ability to plan and deliver interactive, learner-focused training sessions.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a commitment to learner success.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, and diversity principles within an educational context.
Desirable
- Experience delivering qualifications related to SEN education (e.g., Understanding Autism or Behaviour that Challenges).
- Assessor qualification (e.g., A1).
- Familiarity with adult learner funding processes and quality frameworks.
- Certifications in Safeguarding, GDPR, Health & Safety, and Equality & Diversity.
