St John and St Elizabeth Hospital are currently looking to recruit a Medical Record Supervisor. The Medical Records Supervisor is responsible for the effective delivery of all processes related to the handling and storage of patient health records across the Hospital.

The post holder will be required tosupport the Hospital Management team in leading and developing the business, ensuring that performance meets or exceeds agreed quality targets. The post holder will be focused on ensuring the highest standards of handling and storage of health records across the Hospital.

The Medical Records Supervisor will be responsible for promoting best practice across departments, leading the teams and delivering on user expectations, this will involve constant review of business processes and redesign and implementation as required.

The Post holder will be expected prioritise resources to deliver the requirements of the role.

The Post holder will also be responsible for working with the Head of Cardiology & Information Governance Lead to train and develop staff in regards to these processes.

Develop and manage policies and procedures relating to the handling of patient health records. Ensure any new and revised policies and procedures meet the corporate standards, follow the correct approval process, and are communicated effectively.

  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in Health Records Management
  • Transformation and change management
  • Significant Demonstrable experience of leading, motivating and managing teams
  • Relevant Health Care experience (NHS or private)
  • Data Protection and Information Governance experience

What are the Responsibilities of the Medical Records Supervisor role?

  • To drive best practice and maintain high standards with regards to patient information
  • To provide leadership support to motivate staff to achieve departmental KPIs
  • To set and achieve operational goals within the individual teams
  • Measure and evaluate departmental goals and processes
  • To lead on the Subject Access Request processes within the Department and Hospital
  • To lead on duplicate record training for the wider Hospital
  • To prepare data and packs for committee meetings
  • To present data at the Health Records Committee
  • To implement and maintain departmental policies and procedures at all times
  • Identifying skill gaps and ensuring training/education is appropriate when needed
  • To act as a conduit between the department and other areas of the organisation
  • To always ensure that staffing is managed economically
  • To actively encourage all staff to adhere to GDPR & Caldicott guidelines
  • To deliver IG training to staff
  • To regularly audit and address all departmental processes to ensure these are effective and fully compliant with CQC requirements
  • To manage staffing including but not limited to appraisals, disciplinary procedures, annual leave requests, rota.
  • To ensure all documentation is up to date for governance and any other purpose
  • To assist staff in the medical library with day to day tasks during busy periods or periods of staff shortages (sickness / annual leave etc).
  • To undertake any other similar tasks or duties under the direction of management that are within the scope of the role / banding
