A bit about us:

We are a small independent rural pre-school situated in the heart of Winterslow taking children from 2 to 4 years. Staff aim to foster the growth of our children, both academically and socially so that they can flourish into confident and happy individuals. We have recently been rated Good by OfSTED with a comment that staff are dedicated to the learning and development of our children The successful candidate will be joining a professional and committed team and a pre-school in which the children are happy and motivated to succeed.

All about the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about Early Years education and who is looking for a new challenge to take on the role of Deputy Manager at our successful pre-school. We need someone who can help shape the learning and development of all our children. Someone who has leadership qualities and a creative flair.

The successful candidate will need to create a stimulating, safe and caring environment both indoors and outdoors. The role involves assisting with the planning of an Early Years curriculum that takes into account the interests and developmental needs of the children and is based EYFS guidance. High quality teaching coupled with nurturing support will be necessary to create a learning environment that will fascinate the children. Taking responsibility for other roles will be a requirement. For example, Health and Safety, Risk Assessments or an area of the curriculum such as Communication or Numeracy. The post requires the applicant to teach as well as undertake some admin roles.

We also require someone who:-

  • Is a strong team player
  • Has excellent understanding of the EYFS curriculum
  • Is self-motivated and proactive and has a warm and caring approach with children.
  • Has strong communication skills.
  • Has the skills and confidence to be in charge of the pre-school in the Managers absence.
  • Is able to raise attainment and challenge the children to achieve their best.

Other duties include someone:

  1. To work collaboratively with the Manager to build an environment where the children feel happy, secure and are rewarded for their efforts this will require a positive outlook.
  2. To ensure the fulfilment of all legal, statutory and Early Years obligations e.g. safeguarding.
  3. To assist in creating a warm, welcoming environment where parents feel at ease and are encouraged to become involved in their childs learning.
  4. In liaison with the Manager, devise a programme of Holiday Club activities for at least 8 weeks of the year for children up to age 10
  5. To assist with the marketing of the pre-school.
