This role is dual site Seasonal Activity Team Member role providing LOTC accredited activities at both YHA Ilam and YHA Ravenstor in the Derbyshire Peak District. We deliver a range of onsite activities to residential and non residential groups.

We have an exciting opportunity for individuals who are eager to contribute to life-changing experiences for young people. Seasonal activity team members will join our experienced and motivated team in delivering YHA Activity Packages.

Salary £11.44 per hour (This will rise to £12.21 in March in line with National Living Wage and applies to all, including those under the age of 21)

Fixed Term Contract- February to October

0 hours contract. Term time up to 32 hours.

During quiet period or school holiday, hospitality work as part of the hostel team is available

What will you be doing as an Activity Team Member?

Working alongside our Activity Manager our Activity Team Members;

  • Deliver a wide range of outdoor activities and adventures to our clients
  • Ensure safety and adherence to YHA standards and regulations, all while delivering engaging and enjoyable experiences.
  • Collaborate with group leaders to facilitate their roles and provide outstanding activity experiences.
  • Tailor activities to meet the unique needs of diverse groups. We pride ourselves in inclusivity.
  • By reviewing activities and proactively encouraging feedback from groups and leaders you will promote engagement, service improvements and business retention.
  • Maintaining and ensuring the functionality of equipment, promptly reporting any issues to the Activity Manager

What Skills and Experience do you need to be an Activity Team Member?

  • Experience of working with groups of people/ young people (voluntary or paid)
  • A passion for outdoor activities and energy for the outdoors
  • Experience of working face to face with customers
  • Experience of working in a team – can help others to achieve a common goal
  • Experience in working with young people, whether through volunteering or paid roles (desirable)
  • Desire to progress in your skills and experience with support of your Activity Manager
  • Excellent timekeeping, with flexibility to cover different shifts
  • Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload
  • Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA
