We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our team at a well-regarded special school in Wakefield. This school caters to pupils aged 9-16 years who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Severe/Profound Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment where every child can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning and development of pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help pupils manage and regulate their emotions and behaviors.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed.
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, working with children with SEMH needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable.
