We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist school for children and young people on the Autism Spectrum. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of students with ASD and the National Curriculum, and be committed to helping each student achieve their full potential.
Day to day of the role:
- Support individual students or groups to achieve set targets under the direction of the teacher.
- Contribute to the planning, organisation, and delivery of educational and work-related experiences.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievements and progress.
- Participate in the induction and training of new staff, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Uphold school, departmental, and class group policies, practices, and procedures.
- Assist teachers in the development and dissemination of department policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- GCSE grade A-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support in Teaching & Learning or equivalent qualification, or willingness to commence training within 4 months of employment.
- A clean current driving licence is desirable.
Desirable Experience:
- Ability to work creatively and flexibly with students with special educational needs.
- Follow instructions and work within policy guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce accurate written material.
- Capability to use, maintain, and produce teaching resources as required.
- Experience in carrying out physical interventions according to in-service training.
- Ability to assess, plan, and monitor individual learning programmes.
- Form and promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and external agencies.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
