About the role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in SEMH needs to work on a full-time, long-term basis. In this role, you’ll support children across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who have complex emotional and behavioral needs. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create an inclusive learning environment, using tailored approaches to help students manage their emotions, build confidence, and engage positively with their education. This role is perfect for someone with a strong understanding of SEMH and who is skilled in de-escalation techniques and emotional support.
Application Requirements:
• Relevant experience working with children with SEMH needs in a school setting.
• Understanding of SEMH strategies, behavior management, and de-escalation techniques.
• A proactive, positive attitude with a passion for inclusive education.
• Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
• Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and SENCO to implement individualized support plans.
• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment, encouraging resilience and self-esteem in students.
• Help students with behavior management, using positive reinforcement and other SEMH strategies.
• Track and document progress, communicating effectively with staff and parents.
