Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Down Syndrome in a Key Stage 1 classroom. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a supportive and inclusive primary school.
The Role:
Provide individualised support to a child with Down Syndrome, helping them access learning and develop key skills
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies tailored to the child’s needs
Assist with academic tasks, social development, and personal care if required
Encourage independence and confidence while supporting the child’s emotional and educational progress
Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment
Requirements:
✅ Experience working 1:1 with children with SEN, particularly Down Syndrome (preferred)
✅ A patient, caring, and proactive approach
✅ Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists
✅ Ability to adapt and tailor support to individual learning needs
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
