Description
SEN Teaching Assistant
Are you resilient, compassionate, and committed to transforming lives?
Teach Now is working with a dynamic primary school in Barnet looking for a specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with challenging behaviours across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
This role is much more than classroom support—it’s about empowering children to overcome emotional and behavioural barriers, helping them unlock their true potential.
What makes this role stand out
• Behaviour-focused expertise – you’ll work closely with pupils with SEMH needs, ADHD, and behaviour-related diagnoses, using tailored strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
• Team that has your back – work alongside an exceptionally skilled SENCO, a hands-on pastoral team, and external behavioural specialists. There’s a strong culture of shared responsibility and continuous support
• Innovative tools & approaches – the school employs trauma-informed strategies and restorative practice models. You’ll have access to behaviour mentoring programmes, dedicated intervention spaces, and mindfulness sessions
• A place to grow – with ongoing CPD in behaviour management, de-escalation, and mental health, this is a fantastic opportunity for a TA aiming to move into therapeutic or specialist education roles
Who you are
• Experienced in working with children who present with challenging behaviours
• Calm, confident, and consistent in high-pressure situations
• Skilled in building trust with vulnerable learners
• Comfortable working 1:1 and in small group settings
• Ready to be a positive role model every single day
This is a role that requires heart, humour, and a whole lot of patience—but the rewards? Unmatched.
