Are you passionate about working with children with special educational needs? Empowering Learning is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Reception-aged child with Autism in a welcoming primary school. This is a full-time role, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

The Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 support for a child in Reception with Autism, helping them to integrate into the classroom environment, develop social skills, and access the curriculum. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies tailored to the child’s individual needs, ensuring they feel supported and included.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception child with Autism.
  • Help the child engage in daily activities and manage sensory or behavioural needs.
  • Implement personalised strategies to support the child’s learning and development.
  • Foster positive social interactions with peers.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals.
  • Monitor progress and adapt support as necessary to promote academic and emotional growth.
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for the child.

About You:

  • Experience supporting children with Autism or other SEN in an early years setting.
  • A patient, understanding, and compassionate approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with a team.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support children with Autism is desirable.
  • Passionate about making a positive impact on children’s education and development.
